It is no secret that women’s sports has been on the rise in recent years. Notably, the Women’s NCAA Basketball Tournament broke multiple viewership records behind the superstar of Iowa’s (now Indiana Fever’s) Caitlin Clark. It comes as little surprise that Brant Lake Sports Academy for Girls, a 3-week program for driven female athletes aged 11-16, is sold out for this summer. We want to highlight the two incredible female leaders, athletes, and directors of that program: Rachel Milim and Chloe Grimes.
Rachel played college lacrosse at Cornell University, where she was captain of her team and was selected to the All-Ivy and Regional All-America teams. Post-college, Rachel worked as a NASM Certified Personal Trainer and taught fourth grade PE. She coached tennis, swimming, basketball and lacrosse at The Dalton School for 6 years. Currently, Rachel is the president of Byram Hills Youth Lacrosse where she spearheads the program and coaches girls ages 8-18. She also helps to run the Yellowjackets North club lacrosse program. Rachel has completed marathons, triathlons and century rides and still plays tennis and basketball competitively on a weekly basis. She is also the mother of three Brant Lakers: Ryan, Sam, and Jack.
Chloe earned her BS in Athletic Training at the University of Iowa where she spent her four years working alongside Iowa’s women’s basketball (yes, that women’s basketball), football, women’s gymnastics, track and field, and wrestling teams. Chloe become a Certified Athletic Trainer, working for elite Iowa high schools before moving back home to Manhattan. Chloe is now Associate Director of Athletics for The Nightingale-Bamford School, a private all-girls K-12 school on the Upper East Side. She is married to Max Gersten and is mom to Violet Gersten. Chloe is a passionate advocate for women in sports and loves coaching young women to be confident, well-rounded individuals.
